Server and hosting
Your own server is freedom and responsibility. It is cheaper than hosting and does whatever you tell it, but someone has to watch it: update, back up, notice when it is down. I set it up so it watches itself and you learn about problems before your clients do.
Topics I will cover separately
- Choose and set up a VPS
- Pack it into Docker
- Backups that really restore
- Be the first to know the site is down
- Updates without breaking things
- Key-based access, no passwords
Did not find your case?
Write it as it is. If it is about the server, I have most likely seen it before.
